Pioneering Sustainable Energy Solutions for Malawi

Transforming waste into power, fertilizer, fuel, and eco-bricks through innovative circular economy solutions.

Projected Impact

At full potential, the Mawatt Circular Energy Estate will generate 50-60 GWh of clean electricity annually, produce 40,000 tons of organic fertilizer, and manufacture 10 million eco-bricks per year — creating a closed-loop system where city waste becomes energy, agricultural nutrients, and durable building materials.

Our Services

Operating Malawi's first private circular energy park in Blantyre Lunzu — generating 11-15 GWh of clean electricity annually, producing 40,000 tons of organic fertilizer per year, and manufacturing 10 million eco-bricks annually on our 6-acre energy estate. At full potential with expansion to Lilongwe, delivering a combined 50-60 GWh annually into Malawi's urban energy system.

Hybrid Power Production

Combining biogas and biomass technologies to produce reliable renewable energy from municipal waste and agricultural residues.

  • Biogas generation from organic waste
  • Biomass power from agricultural residues
  • Grid-connected renewable energy

Fertilizer Manufacturing

Producing approximately 40,000 tons of organic fertilizer per year through advanced anaerobic digestion and nutrient recovery, supporting smallholder farmers with locally made, renewable soil inputs.

  • Organic fertilizer production
  • Nutrient-rich soil amendments
  • Agricultural market distribution

Fleet Fuel Depots

Producing and distributing sustainable fuel for transportation fleets, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

  • Biogas/biomass fuel production
  • Fleet fueling infrastructure
  • Sustainable transportation solutions

Eco-Brick Manufacturing

Fully upcycling thermal line bottom ash into construction materials, enabling production of 10 million eco-bricks per year for climate-resilient infrastructure in high-density settlements (Ndirande, Mbayani, Bangwe).

  • Plastic waste valorisation
  • Eco-brick production unit
  • Community infrastructure development
  • 1ngaOS mesh network integration

Circular Economy: Value-Added Contribution to the Economy

Creating a closed-loop system where city waste becomes energy, agricultural nutrients, and durable building materials — with almost no residual waste and minimal emissions. Together, these outputs (50-60 GWh electricity, 40,000 tons fertilizer, 10 million eco-bricks annually) create a comprehensive circular economy model supporting both municipal and agricultural sectors while driving sustainable economic growth.

Municipal Waste Processing

Transforming urban waste into renewable energy (50-60 GWh annually), organic fertilizer (40,000 tons/year), and eco-bricks (10M/year)

Agricultural Residue Utilization

Converting farm waste into power (50-60 GWh annually), fertilizer (40,000 tons/year), and fuel

Eco-Brick Manufacturing

Fully upcycling thermal line bottom ash into construction materials, producing 10 million eco-bricks per year for climate-resilient infrastructure in Ndirande, Mbayani, and Bangwe

Community Development

Building climate-resilient structures with smart kiosks connected to 1ngaOS mesh network

Project Scope

At full potential, the Mawatt Circular Energy Estate is designed to generate 11-15 GWh of clean electricity per year in Blantyre and up to 37 GWh per year in Lilongwe, delivering a combined 50-60 GWh annually into Malawi's urban energy system. Through advanced anaerobic digestion and nutrient recovery, the facilities will produce approximately 40,000 tons of organic fertilizer per year, supporting smallholder farmers with locally made, renewable soil inputs. The thermal line's bottom ash will be fully upcycled into construction materials, enabling the production of 10 million eco-bricks per year for resilient community infrastructure.
